“Massages are good especially when women have been stressed with their pregnancy and hormonal changes,” says Dr. Vadeyar.
The Trouble:
On the other hand, Dr. Shantala Vadeyar, Consultant obstetrician, Foetal and Maternal Medicine Specialist, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai reveals, “Full body massages are not advised except if done by qualified professionals who have been authorized to carry out such a practice.”
She strictly recommends visiting specialists who have experience with prenatal massages.
“Massaging is a science that needs to be understood. Just like Ayurveda and Acupressure, it deals with specific points in our body that can trigger a certain effect. Taking a massage treatment from an amateur will expose you to more chances of trouble,”explains Dr. Vadeyar
