09 Jul A Playlist for a Stay at Home Mom Going Back to Work
[row][col_2_3]
I’m doing it… Wish me luck… and miraculously smooth sailing traffic and confidence larger than first day jitters and speaking of first days, someone who is nice and will eat lunch with me!
After 7 years of being Executive Carpool Officer (and Kid Schedule Officer and Being at Home for the Repair Guy Officer and Take the Pets to the Vet Officer and… you get the idea) I am heading back to an “Out of The Home” Job.
This is not a new experience for me; I worked away from home until the kiddos started elementary school. I would love to be able to say I was the kind of mom who was GREAT at staying home with children in thier younger years… I will say it was better for them and for me for me to spend a good chunk of time with other adults and them to be in the hands of trained professionals. And we could have really tightened the belt and *survived* on Fab!Hubby’s salary – but the extra green made life flow all the better.
We’ll be shaking things up around the home front for a bit… but the boys are old enough now to take on dinner prep here and there, they’ve got homework handled, and a steady salary is going to serve them well when the college bill comes due down the road.
I feel immensely blessed that I had the opportunity to be supportive in this way to my family the last few years – I will admit I am looking forward to putting my brain back in the game… and I’m working for a great non-profit doing great work in the world.
So, it’s back out into the intense H-town commute for me… I’ve pulled together a few “Back to Work” songs to ease into it:

She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for [those that help her]. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise [in her community].[/info_bg][/col_1_3][/row]
