06 May Essential Oil Diffuser Blend for May Day
It’s official! … in many communities around the world, summer is here! While it might not be the modern day beginning of the season, we can bring a little summer to our homes with an essential oil blend to celebrate May Day. Traditionally celebrated through the first week of May, May Day or “Beltane” is one of the four high days of worship in Celtic culture. Closely intertwined with astrology, this pre-Christian cycle of the seasons is based on what some call Nature or Earth-based religion. As a mid-spring festival, this was a lusty time of year – morals were given the night off during Beltane celebrations. Young couples would spend the night in the woods “A-Maying”, gathering flowering hawthorn and making love. Babies conceived at this time were believed to blossom into both powerful healers and spiritual adepts having been conceived in a powerful, sacred energy.
Beginning on the night of April 30, Beltane is a mid-spring holiday about rebirth after the cold and dark of winter and the sprouting season of early spring, when plants are coming out of the ground, and young animals are being born. Anticipating the summer, it is a time to celebrate the rebirth of life, growth, and love.

I’m watching the flowers come into to bloom and the hummingbirds are starting to visit. This year, we have a family of Blue Jays growing up in our backyard. I am certainly ready for a little more sunshine, some time in the pool and most of all, a new season of growth and abundance.
